An electrical snap switch (11) has a snap spring (13) with a spring tongue (16) cut out of it which is supported in a supporting mount (15) of a snap switch support (12) under bending prestressing. The operating point, i.e. the contact point (22) of the operating element (23), lies offset laterally with respect to the longitudinal axis of symmetry (24), resulting in an improved, reliable switching behaviour. By displacing the contact point (22) at right angles to the centre axis (24), the switching hysteresis can be adjusted, which is greater when the contact point position is in the outer region than in the case of central operation. <IMAGE>
