PURPOSE:To reduce toner consumption and to reduce staining with toner by forming a white latent image by reflected light where a nonpicture area is formed as a result of continuous variable power, and performing entire-surface exposure by using an LED array effectively. CONSTITUTION:An original 11 to be copied is placed on original placing glass 12 whose one side is a reference part, and a pressure plate 10 is lowered. The reverse surface of this pressure plate 10 is painted entirely in white. When a copy with variable power magnification M is taken in said state, an image of the original 11 is made variable power from L to MXL and its latent image is formed on a photosensitive drum 1. At this time, a white latent image area l' of size corresponding to the length MXL is formed adjacently to the latent image area L' of the original on the photosensitive drum 1. Thus, the white latent image area l' is present, so the area L' is irradiated securely with light from the LED array 4 having a pitch less than or equal to l' by proper irradiation corresponding to the variable power magnification M. |
