PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material small in variation of photographic material caused by variation of development processing conditions without lowering sensitivity, by incorporating specified plate-shaped silver halide grains, and a compd. having a specified oxazole or thiazole in an emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:A compd. represented by formula I or II is incorporated in an emulsion layer together with plate-shaped silver halide grains having a grain diameter as large as three times the thickness of each grain or more. As a result, the obtained superior photosensitive material is reduced in change in photographic characteristics due to change of development processing without deteriorating sensitivity, and has especially large effect on an X-ray sensitive material to be developed at high temp. and high speed. In the formulae I and II, Z<1>, Z<2>, Z<3> are each an atomic group necessary to form an oxazole, benzoxazole, naphthoxazole, thiazole, or the like ring; R<1>, R<2>, R<3> are each optionally substd. alkyl; R<4> is optionally substituted alkyl or aryl; X is an acid anion; and (n) is 0 or 1.
