For creating documents consisting of text and picture sketches in a representation conforming to data processing systems, the texts and picture sketches are separately read. Texts which consist of alphanumeric characters in a standard lettering such as, for example, an OCR lettering, are read by a manual OCR reader and picture sketches and non-standardised alphanumeric characters, for example, are read by a telefax device. The text and picture sketch information items read can be displayed on a screen unit and can be logically combined to form documentation files and stored. Original abstract incomplete.
