PURPOSE: To reduce the spiral offset of projection data obtained by helical scanning without interrupting the continuous motion of an imaging object and a gantry by parallelly advancing the imaging object and X-ray beams. CONSTITUTION: The X-ray generator 10 and X-ray detector 14 arranged around an imaging object in opposed relationship rotate around the imaging object 12 within the gantry plane 60 almost vertical to a parallel advance axis. At this time, the imaging object advances parallelly at the same time along the parallel advance axis. The Xray generator 10 projects X-ray beam through the imaging object and, during a first period, beam is swept along the parallel advance axis in succession to the parallel advance of the imaging object 12. During a second period, the X-ray generator 10 returns to the first position to move along the parallel advance axis in a second direction reverse to the parallel advance of the imaging object 12.
