It comprises two elements 1, 2 articulated to each other about a vertical pivot 3. The element 1 comprises two drive wheels 4 and the driver's position whilst the other element 2 is made in the overall shape of a fork 6. The two branches 6a, 6b of the latter each comprise a prop 8 which is articulated about a pin 8b and which props are connected to a hydraulic ram 11. Two cross members 13, 15 are intended to cooperate with the perimeter of a spool 21 when the rams 10 cause the props 8 to pivot in order to lift the fork 6 with respect to the ground. In this position a beam 17 bearing a rolling member 18 is moved in order that the latter comes under the spool 21, then the props are returned to their initial position in such a manner that the handling plant can drive.
