The dry toilet consists of an airtight container (1) with a decomposition container (4) arranged therein, to which excretion substances can be fed through a closable opening (3). When the lid (5) is opened, a ventilator (16) is switched to increased output via an end switch (39) and, at the same time, the decomposition chamber is closed by a circulating air-flap (17). The excretion substances and portions of additives (7) situated in a storage container (6) pass between two rollers (18, 19) which are rotated in opposite directions via a chain drive (27) by the closing of the lid (5). By this means, the different substances are mixed and conveyed into the decomposition container (4). With the closing of the lid (5), the circulating-air flap (17) is opened at the same time and air is blown into the humus container (14) and the decomposition container (4). If there is too much liquid in the humus container (14), scanning electrodes (52) switch on a heater (28) which is situated at the base below the humus container (14). <IMAGE>
