PURPOSE:In a gasket for sealing while forming a bead on a resilient metal plate, to enable sealing of a jointing face having non-uniform thermal distortion by making the bead state at the high temperature portion larger than other portion. CONSTITUTION:A metal gasket 2 is constructed with a substrate 6 made of resilient metal plate formed with bead 4 and two sub-board 8 provided on both faces of the substrate 6. Said metal gasket 2 is placed on the jointing face 14 between a cylinder head 10 and a cylinder block 12. Here the bead is made to have convex cross-section and the bead state in the proximity of the cylinder hole or the width L1 and the height h1 are made maximum while made gradually smaller as departing from said hole and the width L2 and the height h2 are made minimum at the low heat section. Consequently the recovery of the resilient bead 4 can be increased with correspondence to the thermal distortion of the opposite member to enable reliable sealing of a jointing face having non-uniform thermal distortion. |
