The contact spring for plug connectors has a base part which is connected to the parallel leaf spring limb and consists of two box-shaped sections (10, 11) which are arranged aligned one behind the other in the longitudinal axis, are open at the ends and the upper (10) one of which has a rectangular cross-section, while the lower one (11) has a square cross-section. The latter is used for accommodating and attaching a connecting pin (13). Those edges of the upper section (10) which overhang the contour of the lower section (11) are supported against correspondingly arranged shoulders (19, 20) in the upper part (17) and lower part (16) of a two-piece insulating housing (15), for security against axial displacement. The multiple spring strips assembled in this manner are primarily used with connecting pins (13) which can be pressed into a printed circuit board (21) since, as a result of the bending stiffness of the box-shaped sections of each contact spring, a relatively high axial pressing-in force (P) is possible. <IMAGE>
