PURPOSE:To simplify the shape of a breakwater block as well as to reduce the weight of the block for making the manufacture of the block easier by using six elemental pieces. CONSTITUTION:Six elemental pieces 1-6 having cross sectional forms with adequate dimensions are formed on an axis connecting the adjacent two edge lines on each face of a three-dimensional body ABCDEFGH with an edge line length (a). Since each block has a flat shape and low gravity center, the block has a high stability against horizontal and vertical wave forces. In the case of random masonry structure, the integrity of the structure can be kept by the entanglement of blocks and sufficient void rates can be obtained. In the case of normal masonry, since the projection angle to the horizontal face at the convex points A, C, and H and concave point of the block is 120 deg., the blocks can be arranged without spacing on the horizontal face. |
