[Also in Division H2] A sealed lighting fitting for a tubular electric, lamp 5 for use in confined spaces comprises a partially translucent tubular casing 1 which contains a lampholder and which is closed and supported at its ends by end covers 10, 30, one of these end covers 30 including supply terminals and being detachably secured to the casing 1, the other end cover 10 having an attachment device 15 to permit axial movement of the casing away from the detachable end cover. Such a device may comprise a bracket 16 fixed to a ceiling 14 and having a sloping portion 18 and a downwardly extending arm formed with a hole 19. An arm 20 pivoted around a pin 23 forming part of the fixed end cover 10 passes through the hole 19 so that when the casing is moved axially by rotation of captive bolt 35 the arm slides freely through the hole until its hooked free end catches on the edge of the hole so that the arm rotates to position 20<SP>11</SP> thus lowering the casing which is now free of the detachable end cover and allowing access to the lamp. During the separation of the casing and end, in an alternative embodiment, Fig. 3, not shown, the lamp casing (51) is mounted below a separate fixed control gear casing (50) and the axial movement of the lamp casing causes a spigot (61) on the lamp casing to be withdrawn from a socket in the control gear casing to free the lamp casing completely from the rest of the assembly. A plug and socket arrangement is provided to break the electrical circuit. Axial movement to release the spigot is caused by rotation of a captive bolt. Sealing rings are provided to seal all joints. |
