PURPOSE:To improve the alignment precision of a ferrule and to prevent the entry of dust, etc., by cutting plural grooves which are sectioned almost arcuately in the axial direction of a cylindrical sleeve whose outer cirucmferential surface is blocked and forming elastic contacting pieces having elasticity. CONSTITUTION:When ferrules 2 and 2' are inserted into the sleeve 3 from both sides, the outer circumferential surfaces of the ferrules 2 and 2' contact while coming together to the center of the sleeve 3 by respective elastic contacting pieces 32. Therefore, even when the ferrules 2 and 2' have different external diameters, both ferrules are positioned at the center part of the sleeve 3 and the end surfaces of optical fibers 15 of the ferrules face each other. Then, the ferrules are always aligned to each other and the outer circumferential surface of the sleeve 3 is blocked, so no dust, etc., is entered from outside and there is no clearance generated between the end surfaces of the ferrules 2 and 2', so that the connection loss is reduced. |
