PURPOSE:To make the oxidation of a thin amorphous magnetic material film suppressable and to stabilize magnetic characteristics by incorporating easily oxidizable metallic materials such as Ti or the like into the thin transparent films, refletion film, etc. in proximity to the thin amorphous magnetic material film. CONSTITUTION:A magnetooptic storage element consists of a transparent substrate 1 of glass, acrylic resin, etc., thin transparent films 2, 4 of SiO, SiO2, Si3N4, etc., a thin amorphous magnetic material film 3 consisting of rare earth- metallic alloys such as GdTbFe, TbDyFe, GdCo, TbFe, GdTbDyFe, etc. and a reflection film 5' contg. easily oxidizable metallic materials such as Ti, Mg, rare earth metals (Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Y), etc. The easily oxidizable metallic materials may be incorporated in the film 2 or 4 or may be incorporated into >=2 optional films among the films 2, 4, 5'. The film 2 may be dispensed with. |
