A method for regulating a resistive load having a temperature coefficient, by means of a semiconductor-switch power actuator in the supply circuit of the resistive load, which actuator is switched periodically by means of control pulses, in accordance with the clock principle, the switch-time duration of the actuator being variable as a function of a regulator which controls the temperature of the resistive load according to the resistance value. The actual resistance value which is to be detected for the temperature measurement by means of the regulator (3), by comparing the current in the resistive load (H) with the voltage dropped across it or with the supply voltage, is determined by switching-on the actuator (st), initially briefly in each case, enforced by means of a clock transmitter (5) whose clock pulses (I) are supplied by a decoupling diode (6) to a comparator, which carries out the comparison, of the regulator, and, if the resistance value is less than a predetermined value, it is held switched-on until the resistance value is greater than the predetermined value. <IMAGE>
