PURPOSE:To enable reduction in the power source load by dividing (k) print pins to drive for printing when detecting a rise in the temperature of the power source section during the printing with the (k) print pins in a printer with a multi-pin head arranged in (m) trains of (k) pins. CONSTITUTION:One line of printing data D from a processing section 3 provides signals d1-d3 each having 8 bits in one column to print pins of a print driver 13 through a line buffer 6 to perform a printing. When a transistor Q in a power source section 1 exceeds a specified temperature, a sensor S contact is turned ON. A discriminator section 5 of a processor 2 discriminates a signal A thereof and sends a switch command B to a print control section 10 and a space control section 11. Here, the print control section 10 changes a switch section 9 over to the port position to turn the contact of the switch section 8 to positions f-h sequentially so that the print driver 13 is divided into three to drive. Upon the end of three printings, a space control signal J is transmitted to drive a space driver 14. This can reduce the load of the power source thereby miniaturizing the power source by a high package. |
