The illusion of three-dimensional images is achieved by having a first video camera (10) oriented to view the subject (20) from one point of origin, a second video camera (12) oriented to view the subject (20) from another point of origin, a switching device (14) for alternately coupling the output signal from one of the two cameras to an output terminal at a rate within a range between 4 and 30 times per second and a display device (18) including a viewing surface for converting the output terminal into a visual display on the viewing surface.
