<p>A talking figure play set comprising an environmental structure (20) having a record player (50) with an upwardly pointing stylus (60) on its tone arm (58) and a plurality of human or animal figures (80), each having an open-bottom base (84) with a phonograph record (88) permanently recessed therein. The tone arm is recessed in an opening (54) in a housing along with support means (56) for the figures. The record recessed in the base of each figure has a sound recording compatible with the appearance of the figure. When a figure base is inserted in the opening in the housing the record player is thereby turned on while that figure remains stationary to allow a child to perceive it as talking. The figure may have movable parts (108", 112") actuated by a cam (66") on the record player. The record player may have a rotatable stylus playing a stationary record. </p> |
