PURPOSE:To make it possible to control the valve-opening time quickly and with a high degree of accuracy by a method wherein reference timing data showing the valve opening time of the exhaust valve with respect to the rated r.p.m. of the engine are corrected by correcting time data corresponding to the engine r.p.m. and the corrected data are supplied to a servo-mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The reference timing data R showing the opening time of the exhaust valve with respect to the rated r.p.m. of the engine is generated by a reference timing data generating means 107, correcting time data D showing the amount of correcting time for correcting the opening time of the exhaust valve with respect to the rated r.p.m. of the engine is generated by an engine r.p.m. detecting means 36, the reference timing data are corrected by correcting means 106 and 108, and the correcting data are supplied to the servo-mechanism 43, to thereby control the opening time of the exhaust valve. In this case, the scavenging pressure and the internal cylinder pressure are also employed as control parameters for the valve-opening time. With the above arrangement, it is possible to obtain automatically and quickly a proper valve-opening time corresponding to the operating condition of the engine. |
