The recording unit has cooperating stop plates limiting the width of the recording field. A marking disc is attached to the adjustable stop plate at a distance of less than half the dia. of the disc from its limiting edge. The disc carries peripheral data markings which can be imaged onto the X-ray recording and is rotated to bring the required data marking into the imaging position via a pulley cable wound around a drum which slides along a rotary drive shaft. Pref. the periphery of the marking disc has a planar peripheral face which in a given angular position lies in line with the limiting edge of the stop plate.
