PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor having high sensitivity, adaptability to repeated uses, and high durability, by forming a photosensitive layer contg. a specified bisazo compd. on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer having high sensitivity, adaptability to repeated uses, and high durability formed on the conductive substrate is obtained by incorporating in the layer a bisazo compd. having formula I in which X1 is halogen, 1-4C optionally substituted (hereafter abbreviated to o.s.) alkyl or 1- 4C o.s. alkoxy, or CN; X2 is H or same as X1; R is o.s. alkyl; A is a group of formulae II-V; Y is H, OH, carboxy(ester), sulfo, or the like; Z is an atomic group needed to form an o.s. aromatic carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; R1 is H, o.s. alkyl, o.s. amino, carboxy, CN, or the like; R2 is o.s. aryl; and R3 is o.s. alkyl, o.s. aryl, or the like. |
