Compsn. contains the 2-oxo-1,3-dihydro isobenzofuran-1-yl ester of 2-acetyloxy-benzoic acid (i.e. acetylsalicylic acid or aspirin) with an acceptable pharmaceutical vehicle. Pref. the compsn. is in the form of unit doses contg. 0-075-0.9g of the active cpd. The ester has formula (I). Used as blood platelet agglomeration inhibitor, with two toxicity and very weak ulcerogenic activity. Compsns. contg. (I) may be used prophylactically or therapeutically as antithrombotics in the treatment of cardiac ischaemia and arteriosclerosis and prophylactically in avoiding post-surgical thromboembolisms.(0/0)
