PURPOSE:To spirally bend a sheared face and readily cut away sheared chips, by forming grooves at edge portions of an edge preparing area at given intervals in the longitudinal direction, and then carrying out edge preparation by a shearing cutter for edge preparation. CONSTITUTION:There are arranged plasma cutting torches 6 on both sides of an elongated steel plate 1 to be continuously fed in the direction of an arrow as shown in the drawing. Triangular grooves 3 having a certain depth are formed by the torches 6 at given intervals at edge portions of an edge reparing area. Then, edge preparing faces are sheared by frust-conical shearing cutters 4 for edge preparation. Sheared chips 5 are spirally bent and cut away at the grooves 3. |
