PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of an electrode hoisting device as well as to improve the reliability, by changing the direction of a wire electrode just passing through a machining start hole from lengthwise to sidelong through a pressure fluid. CONSTITUTION:A wire electrode 10 of a wire-cut electro-discharge machine is inserted into a machining start hole in a work W by an automatic feeder 34 in time of a start of machining or the snapping of a wire electrode. The wire electrode 10 further passes through a guide device and its forward direction is changed by 90 deg. from lengthwise to sidelong by dint of pressure water inflow ports 94a and 94b at a directional selector 82. Moreover, at a hoisting guide 80, the wire electrode 10 is given propulsion force by the pressure water out of an injector 100 and fed to a hoisting device 70. This pressure water is recovered through a recovery port 124 together with pressure air out of an inflow port 130 by a pressure water recovery device 120. |
