PURPOSE:To contrive to conserve energy in a ship and to enhance accommodation properties and stability of the ship, by providing an energy-recovering Savonious-type impeller which is operated by rolling of a ship. CONSTITUTION:Water 7, 8 is contained in both tanks 2, 3, and air is contained in the tanks 2, 3 above the water surfaces. In the case of rolling of the ship's hull 1, a water flow 13 is generated in a liquid communicating pipe 4, while an airflow 14 is generated in a gas communicating pipe 5. The Savonious-type impeller 9 is provided with rotational energy periodically in the same direction by the periodic water flow 13, the periodic rotational energy is accumulated in and smoothed by a flywheel 10 connected to the impeller 9 through a shaft 12, and drives a generator 11 also connected through the shaft 12, whereby the rolling energy of the ship is recovered by finally converting it into electrical energy. |
