Known sun-shading devices operate with pivotable slats of light-transmitting material which have on the inside a multiplicity of conical prisms; they consequently have a virtually circular screening area, which means unfavourable transmission of daylight and at the same time the necessity of readjustment during the day. The sun-shading device according to the invention has in comparison a significantly better transmission of daylight and at the same time makes do without readjustment during the day and with only a few readjustments during the course of the year. In addition, the slats (1), pivotable about a horizontal longitudinal axis (L), are of a surprisingly simple construction: they have on the outside a flat base area (11) and on the inside prism bars (10) which run parallel to the longitudinal axis (L) and the short faces (12, 13) of which are unreflective and form a base angle of 90 DEG . <IMAGE>
