PURPOSE:To facilitate the formation of a conductive portion on a face plate and a funnel section and the repair of the face plate by constituting the funnel section with two parts divided in front and rear by an intermediate section. CONSTITUTION:After a phosphor layer 7 is formed on the inner surface of a face plate 2, the inner wall surface of the face plate 2 and a funnel section front 41a is coated with graphite through an opening 41c by means of a brush to form a conductive portion 5. A funnel section rear 41b welded with a neck section 42 is sealed to the opening edge of thefnnel section front 41a with a frit glass 9 to form a conductive portion 8 made of graphite. According to this constitution, the conductive portion 5 can be easily coated through the opening 41c by means of the brush, thus when the seal section of the frit glass 9 is melted to repair a phosphor layer 7, the melted position is apart from the face plate 2 by a sufficient distance, thereby the phosphor layer 7 and the expensive fiber are not damaged. |
