Continuously advanced documents are arranged in sequence on a continuously advanced support web C and with exact positioning. The apparatus comprises an upper fitting frame 18 and a lower conveyor unit 16. The latter has two separate belt systems. One comprises a plurality of conveyor belts, while the other comprises a plurality of narrower belts which support a plurality of separate adjustment elements arranged at right angles to the direction of flow. The documents are made to overlap each other in such a way that trailing documents lie under the documents in front, for which reason each adjustment element catches a document's front edge, while the document is fed from a document feeder 14, by which means the document is correctly positioned. These adjustment elements also bring the rear part of leading documents to overlap and lie over the front part of the documents following behind. The machine is arranged to continuously adjust the position of the documents while these are in movement. <IMAGE> |
