IMPROVED CARCINOSTATIC AGENT

PURPOSE:A carcinostatic agent, containing 5-fluorouracil and guanosine 5'-mono- phosphate, and having enhanced carcinostatic effects without increasing the toxicity to the living body. CONSTITUTION:An improved carcinostatic agent containing 5-fluorouracil (5- FU) and guanosine 5'-monophosphate (5'-GMP) or a salt thereof as active constituents. The weight ratio of both components is preferably 1:(3-100) between the 5-FU and the 5'-GMP. Both are separately administered at almost the same time or previously incorporated and administered at the same time. The use of the 5'-GMP with the 5-FU provides more remedial effects even in a reduced dose of the 5-FU than in the simple administration. Th development of side effects is reduced to permit the administration for a long term. The same dose as in the simple admnistration exhibits a more powerful remedial effect, and a more prolonging effect on life can be expected.
