摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an electricity-saving rapid start fluorescent lamp which has a good appearance and a high value, which fully satisfies JIS standard in starting voltage during low temperature lighting, and in blackinening of the end of the tube which conventionally was the peculiar fault of a fluorescent lamp is widely decreased. CONSTITUTION:The distance (D) between an electrode (a) and a shield plate (b) surrounding the electrode (a), is adjusted to over 4mm.. In addition, the distance (H) between the coil center (l) of the electrode (a) and the electric-discharge-side end of the shield plate (b), is restricted to within the rang of 0-2mm.. By the means metioned above, most part of emitter matter jumping onut of the electrode (a) during burning adheres to the shield palte (b) thereby alleviating blackening, and the purpose of the shiled plate (b) is satisfactorily achieved. In a low temperature burning test of 13 deg.C+ or -1 deg.C, the shortest distance between the electrode (a) and a starting auxiliary plate 10 becomes almost equal to that seen when the shield plate (b) is not used, because the electrode (a) is located near the end of the shield plate (b), and the lamp is sufficiently burned at a voltage of below 360VX150%. Here, the shape of the shield plate (b) is not limited to an alliptic cylinder but may also be a shape with a partial cut.
