The invention relates to an analog/digital converter which operates in such a manner that a particular charge quantity is symmetrically divided by means of a charge divider. One of the part-charges is also symmetrically divided in a further charge divider. The other part-charge is compared with the unknown information. The smaller one of the two charges is increased by the one part charge of the second charge divider whereas the other part charge of the second charge divider is supplied to a third one. Now the next comparison is carried out between the said charges. This process is repeated in accordance with the number of bit positions to be weighted. Each electrode, which is contacted by charges used in comparisons contains at least one basic charge at any time.
