A circuit arrangement of a flyback converter for an electronic flash apparatus is specified, in which a converter transformer (Tr) without a feedback winding is used. The phase shift required for the feedback is produced by a second transistor (T2) which is complementary to the converter transistor (T1). In consequence, the efficiency of the flyback converter can be improved. In addition, the control power which is required to switch the converter off is reduced, as a result of which the control of the converter is simplified so that, for example, it can be driven at low power by an integrated circuit. <IMAGE>
