The fitting serves for adjusting a top of a writing table and has lifting members which are connected to the top and which are guided displaceably by means of connecting members in guides arranged obliquely relative to the lifting direction and belonging to intermediate members. By means of a drive, the intermediate members can be displaced for the purpose of adjusting the height of the lifting members. Since the guide extends obliquely relatively to the lifting direction, the height of the lifting members is adjusted by means of the connecting members. The fitting consists of only a few parts and can be actuated easily, so that even relatively heavy tops can be adjusted without much effort.
