The hand-operated portable grease gun contains a grease retaining chamber (14), a head piece (1) and a mouth piece (3) which is placed on the lubricating nipple. A piston (6) presses against the lubricant supply, which is located in the grease retaining chamber (14), under the influence of compressed air. A jacket tube (7) is located at a radial distance around the cylinder tube (4), so that an annular additional air chamber (12) is produced. The compressed air is introduced through an air-inlet valve (10). In consequence, a pressure is obtained on the contents on the grease retaining chamber (14) which can easily be matched to different viscosity of the lubricant. <IMAGE>
