PURPOSE:To judge the quality of a shock absorber, by sequentially lifting up axles at the corners of a vehicle, vibrating the body before and after a resonating point, and measuring a damping force based on the amplitude of the body, under the state the shock absorber is attached to the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:An axle 2 of a vehicle 1 is lifted and a tire is suspended. A support 5 for the axle 2 is vibrated up and down at a constant amplitude. The frequency is changed. When the amplitude becomes the maximum value, the frequency at the resonant point is measured. The amount of damping is obtained by a Table or a computing expression. The quality of the amount of damping with respect to the vehicle is automatically judged. When the natural frequency of each corner is known, it is obtained by a rate of deviation of the ratio from one. The ratio is obtained by dividing the measured vibrating frequency of the resonant point by the known vibrating frequency when the damping is not present. When the natural frequency is not known, the ratio between the frequency of the resonant point between the body and the axle and the frequency of the resonant point between the body and the ground is obtained. Then, the amount of damping is obtained by the Table or the computing expression by the same way. |
