A sprung hinge for a tipping truck cab has two torsion rods set through the hinge, with one end of each rod secured to the cab floor. The other end is linked to the hinge action by two levers (10,11). They form a crank system and transfer the torsion force onto the chassis via a third lever (8). The torsion rods are slightly angled to ensure that their attachments ends on the cab are near the pivot axis. The two springs provide a controlled damping force which balances the cab tipping action.
