PURPOSE:To increase the volume of a well and to draw plural ingots simultaneously from roll gaps by forming gap between the suitable adjacent rolls among the roll groups disposed in parallel and charging molten metal on the central rolls. CONSTITUTION:A pair of central rolls 8, 9 are provided freely rotatably in tight contact with each other, and side rolls 10, 11 are disposed freely rotatably with the gaps alpha provided on both sides of the rolls 8, 9. The length of the surface of the rolls 10, 11 in contact with molten metal at an angle theta1 is made roughly coincident with the length of the surface of the rolls 8, 9 in contact with the molten metal at an angle theta2. The axial centers of the rolls 8-11 are made coincident with the same horizontal line. The rolls 8-11 are rotated in arrow directions, and the molten metal is charged into the rolls 8, 9 from a nozzle 4. Ingots 6 are drawn from the respective gaps alpha. The volume in the well formed on the rolls is increased by the above-mentioned method and since the fluctuation in the molten metal surface is obviated, the plural ingots are drawn simultaneously with good productivity. |
