DESALTING METHOD OF SEA WATER

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for any intake device for sea water and pressurizing device such as a high pressure pump by providing a reverse osmotic membrane device under the sea surface at the depth corresponding to the working pressure thereof, passing high pressure sea water through the membrane and desalting the same to the fresh water of the atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION:A permeated water tank 3 is communicated with the module 2A of a reverse osmotic membrane device 2 and raw sea water 10 is introduced from a submersible pump 6 through a pretreatment device 7 into the device 2. The pump 6 is installed at 500-600m under the sea surface 1 and transfers the water 10 of about 50-60atm. to the device 2 which separates the sea water to concd. sea water 8 and fresh water 5 with the module 2A. The fresh water 5 of the atmospheric pressure is stored in the tank 3. The fresh water is further lifted up to the land by means of a lift pump 4 according to need. The energy required for desalting of the sea water is thus reduced considerably.
