Selectively gas-permeable composite membranes and process for the production thereof

The composite membrane, selectively permeable to gas, contains or is composed of a heat-resistant porous polymer membrane and a thin layer of a compound of tertiary carbon or tertiary organic silicone applied to one side of the membrane, which layer was prepared by polymerisation of the compound by means of a plasma. The membrane has a highly selective permeability and also improved strength and heat resistance.
