In a device for compensating the thermally induced length changes of exhaust pipes (3) in a turbocharged V engine with just one exhaust turbocharger (24), the exhaust pipes (3) extending in the longitudinal direction of the engine are connected by means of rigid connecting pipes (4) extending transversely thereto to a common exhaust collection housing (5) which is arranged on the crankcase (6) of the engine and to which in turn just one exhaust turbocharger (24) is connected. In order to be able to compensate thermally induced length changes in the longitudinal direction of the engine and transversely thereto without the risk of leaks, a longitudinally elastic tube (bellows 11) and a connecting element (12) rigid in the longitudinal direction of the engine and elastic transversely thereto are arranged between the respective exhaust pipe (3) and the exhaust collection housing (5), and the exhaust collection housing (5) together with the exhaust turbocharger (24) is mounted on the crank case (6) in a manner which allows displacement in the longitudinal direction of the engine. <IMAGE>
