PURPOSE:To enable a high performance of ultrasonic flaw detection by allowing signals to pass from a probe only for the start position and the gate with set based on the material and sound velocity of an object to be inspected so as to select a gate circuit corresponding to modes. CONSTITUTION:A reflection echo signal of a probe P is amplified, converted into a digital signal with an A/D converter via a plurality of AND circuits AND1- ANDN, and then inputted into a data processing circuit. A multigate mode selector MGM with a required clock pulse generator presets a desired mode by setting the relationship between sound velocity and distance in an object to be inspected by actual range in mm.. The start position and the gate width are set for the gate. When inspecting flaws, the multigate selector and the gates are preset corresponding to the object being inspected in the mode and the sound velocity. Only doing this enables the inspection of flaws with limited errors simply by selection of emmersion inspection, checking and the like with the multigate selector. |
