The sealing cap is used to cover the stoppered neck of a wine bottle and the seal is broken when the cap is removed for the first time. It is crimped onto the neck of the bottle and comprises a cylinder (2) of which the top end is closed by a wall (3) incorporating a tongue (4). The cap is ripped apart by pulling on the tongue, a longitudinally grooved milled area (9) of the side walls being used to propagate the rip. Two incised longitudinal lines (7,8) may extend from the tongue down the sides of the cap, to define the area of material to be removed, and may each coincide with the bottom of a milled groove.
|
