A device for attaching a belt lock (1) to an anchoring point (8) in a vehicle, a sudden pushing or pulling force on the belt lock (1) being absorbed in a damping fashion. In order to attach the belt lock to the anchoring point, not, however, in the simple rigid manner but rather in such a way that the lock is movable and yet, in the event of a sudden application of force, is held rigidly at the anchoring as if rigidly attached, there is provision according to the invention for a tubular element (9) to be permanently attached to the anchoring point (8), a lock bar (2) which secures the belt lock (1) being arranged in the said tubular element (9) so as to be displaceable counter to a resistance, and for the lock bar (2) also to be attached to a first securing device, for example a screw (4) which can break more easily. <IMAGE>
