The invention relates to a drive device of a circular knitting machine for making hosiery in circular motion, which contains two electric motors. The object of the invention is to eliminate these disadvantages and to provide a simple, energy-saving drive device in which the dial drive cuts off automatically at high rotational speeds in a clog-free manner. The essence of the invention is that one electric motor is connected directly to the needle cylinder and the other electric motor is connected to the dial drive and, by way of a freewheel coupling, to the needle cylinder.
