The instrument has a rod (1) and two hooks (2 and 3) which can be displaced and fixed thereon and are designed for engagement in the vertebral arch of a vertebra. At least one of the hooks (3) is provided with a fixable lid (32) for sealing of the hook opening. The two hooks can be pivoted about the axis of the rod. There are engagement means for fixation of each hook in at least 10 discrete angular positions within a pivot angle of 90 DEG on every point of its displacement range. These engagement means are each formed by a washer (21, 31) located unrotatably on the rod (1), the washer and the associated contact surface of the hook being provided with protuberances and depressions engaging each other in such a way that locking is possible. <IMAGE>
