<p>Novel industrial process and an installation for filling a food liq. including a falvouring into an aseptic container, esp. a carton. In this type of process the liq. is sterilised by rapid, e.g. 'FLASH', hightemp. treatment. The liq. is then deaerated and cooled to ambient temp. ready for filling. The principal liq., without falvouring, is heat treated and deaerated in the conventional fashion. A sterile flavouring liq. is then added to the principal liq. and the mixt. is packed as usual. Pref. the flavouring liq. is sterilised by being forced through a membrane which retains all germs. The process and installation are used to produce flavoured drinks in cartons, partic. drinks comprising a principal liq., e.g. sweetened water, which is flavoured with injected fruit juice, esp. the juice of citrus fruits. The flavouring liq. is not subjected to heat treatment are deaeration, both of which can alter the qualities of the flavouring liq. and spoil the final prod..</p> |
