<p>The structure of the socket is similar to existing types and has a cylindrical form with a central, elastic contact and a threaded inner wall. The modification in the design is a metallic contact strip which is inclined to the axis of the socket and makes electrical contact to the sloping surface of the end of the lamp sleeve. Diametrically opposite the contact strip is a fixed support ramp which braces the lamp against the radial force of the contact strip. The support ramp consists of two wings which are inclined so as to fit the profile of the lamp base. The body of the socket is made of an insulating upper case into which conventional threaded lamps can be screwed. The contact assembly is fixed to a lower housing (10) also made of an insulating material.</p> |
