A seal arrangement, in particular for use in the stern bearing (4) of a ship, comprises an inner and an outer face seal element (6, 7) which are mounted on a rubber body (8) for rotation together with the propeller shaft (1). Any oil from the bearing (4) which gets behind the inner element (6), or seawater which gets behind the outer element (7), enters a cavity formed by pockets (9) in the body (8). These pockets are separated from one another by inclined blades (10) which act as a centrifugal pump in order to pass the leakage material through a passage (11) in a seat (5). The arrangement can also be used in other applications where the leakage material is corrosive or has a tendency to cause blockages. <IMAGE>
