The rod-type sliding-door or folding-door lock is, in principle, embedded in the endface of the sliding or folding door in the same way as previous sliding-door locks. This lock possesses, instead of a hook latch or a pin bolt or claw bolt, an upwardly closing resilient latch head (12) which is connected resiliently to the lock via a tube (5). The lock plate (23) is located on the upper door frame (20) and can be accurately placed and adjusted according to the height of the gasket (22). In this lock, the locking movement can already be executed in advance, that is to say before the sliding door is pushed shut, since the locking member (5, 12) is made resilient in relation to the lock case. Furthermore, no bolt projects on the endface of the sliding or folding door, which can have a disturbing effect and lead to accidents. <IMAGE>
