The invention relates to inspection and measuring means. The apparatus comprises a flow-type container (1) with a level which remains constant and a device (5) for determining the degree of grinding which includes two chambers, namely a filter chamber (13) and a measurement chamber (15). Fitted in the chamber (15) is an element which is sensitive to the changes in the filtrate level and which is coupled to means of measuring and recording the degree of grinding as a function of said level. The measuring means comprise an accessory device (24), a commutator (32), a function transducer (33, 34) and a block (35) for calculating the degree of grinding of the fibrous material, whose output signal yields the information on the actual magnitude of the degree of grinding allowing for the filtrate viscosity. The invention can be used with the greatest useful effect for measuring the degree of grinding of paper pulp. <IMAGE>
