PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of excessive thrust force and the abrasion of rolls by setting the crossing angle of the shaft of upper and lower paired roll groups beforehand, and correcting the angle of only the shafts of upper and lower work rolls slightly with a change in condition after passing of a plate material. CONSTITUTION:Work roll chocks 1a, 2a can be moved in a rolling direction or be maintained in a prescribed position by the driving mechanism consisting of mechanisms 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b for setting the positions of the work roll chocks provided to backup roll chocks 3a, 4a in order to change the crossing angle of the shaft 4 of upper and lower work rolls 1, 2 with a change in the condition under rolling. The need for any large mechanism for crossing the shafts over the entire part of the paired roll groups during rolling is thus eliminated and the generation of excessive thrust force owing to the crossing of the shaft among the paired roll groups is reduced. |
